Who is Miss Rosie? I have never taught a defensive driving class without somebody asking, "Who is Miss Rosie,"? Miss Rosie was Rose Kevorkian, born in Turkish Armenian on August 25, 1919 (passed June 19, 2007 in Austin Texas). She came to the U.S. with her family in 1921. Her father and brother were pharmacists and Miss Rosie worked in the family pharmacy. |

| Miss Rosie's life reads like a novel of a person and family that endured great challenges during World War I. I could go on and on about the stories of being smuggled out of her home country and other dangerous encounters but I'd rather concentrate briefly of her character. She was a gentle soul, overflowing with extreme kindness, who could without effort gain the respect of the greatest sinner. She had great impact from the smallest of gestures. This, I and those who had the privilege of caring for her, always recognized. And because of this super natural gift, we were devoted. Who was Miss Rosie? She was and still is an Angel. One of her favorite charities was the Armenian Missisionary Association of America. |
